UPDATE 2:45 p.m.: A spokesperson with the Peel Regional Police says no foul play is suspected in the death of the dead man. “The investigation is still in its infancy. We’re looking into the circumstances leading up to the death.” said in a statement.

UPDATE: 9:00 a.m.: Police are responding to reports of a suspicious death in Vaughan. According to a tweet from the Peel Regional Police’s account, officers and emergency responders have been called to a north field behind a home at 1 Windward Drive in Vaughan around 4:00 a.m. They are asking people to avoid the area if possible.

Original story: Police are investigating a “suspicious death” in the Toronto suburb of Vaughan, Canada, according to a tweet sent out by the Peel Regional Police department.

Canada’s Global News reported that residents in the area had heard shots fired in the overnight hours, but police officials say that’s not confirmed. Police also tweeted that they are investigating a “suspicious death” and asking the public to avoid the area near the incident.

The incident took place around 4 a.m. Sunday in the northern suburb of Vaughan, which is situated on the shores of Lake Ontario.

A female resident of the neighborhood told CP24 television the body was found outside of the home at 12 Windward Drive.
