Novak Djokovic was one of the few who didn’t make a bad year the much worse, however.
Djokovic was recently interviewed on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” where he was asked about ranking no. 1 in the world. Djokovic continued to follow his pattern of answering such questions with coyness before quickly changing his answer.
“Well, I think number one of course doesn’t mean it means 100 percent, it’s… when I’m playing at my best, I’m sure I can win Wimbledon. You know, obviously, I couldn’t win Wimbledon in ’07 because I had an elbow injury. I was very well ranked number 1 of the world, so to go on a real long run to number one, number 1 of the world, is something that I cannot take for granted, especially when you’re getting older. I’m still playing tennis so that’s why I’m at the moment extremely positive about that.”
Djokovic is playing well again and is back to world no. 1 status for the first time since June 2016.
